About the Position
Truworths, a leading fashion retailer in South Africa, is looking for a Trainee Fashion Graphic Designer to join their Merchandising team in Cape Town, Western Cape.
It’s an on-site, permanent role that offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with buyers, fashion designers, manufacturers, printers, and mills to develop fashionable prints that align with the brand’s identity.

Your Key Responsibilities
As a Trainee Fashion Graphic Designer, your role will involve:
- Creating Graphics & Prints: Designing placement graphics, branding, and all-over prints for different fabrics and garment styles.
- Trend Research: Keeping up to date with local and international fashion trends, ensuring Truworths stays ahead in the industry.
- Collaboration: Working closely with Buyers and Designers to interpret fashion trends into market-ready designs.
- Technical Preparation: Assisting in the production process by preparing graphics and prints with the correct specifications for printing.
Qualifications & Experience
To qualify for this Truworths Trainee Fashion Graphic Designer role, you’ll need:
- A Graphic Design, Surface/Textile Design, Fashion Design, or related qualification.
- Technical skills in designing graphics for garments and textiles.
- Basic understanding of different print techniques such as screen printing and digital printing.
- Up-to-date knowledge of branding, seasonal graphics, and design trends.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
