Tiger Brands, one of South Africa’s leading food manufacturers, is offering an exciting 12-month internship opportunity for a Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) professional at their Durban facility.

Position Overview
The Risk SHHE (Safety, Health, Hygiene and Environment) Intern will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of safety management within a manufacturing environment. This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting while contributing to Tiger Brands’ commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
As a Risk SHHE Intern at Tiger Brands Durban, you will:
- Support project work related to safety, health and environmental initiatives
- Collect and analyze SHE data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
- Participate in emergency drills and safety preparedness activities
- Assist with contractor safety management to ensure compliance with company policies
- Take part in SHE audits and inspections across the facility
- Help develop and deliver SHE training and awareness campaigns
- Contribute to incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Review and update SHE procedures and standard operating procedures
- Conduct Planned Job Observations (PJOs) focusing on safety aspects
- Perform regular audits and inspections to identify potential hazards
Qualifications Required
Successful candidates must have:
- A National Diploma in Safety Management (looking to complete P1 & P2 training)
- SAMTRAC Qualification (South African safety management certification)
- South African citizenship
- Residence in or ability to relocate to Durban
- No more than one year of full-time work experience in their field of study
