What Does a Store Manager Do?
A Store Manager in the retail environment is a multi-tasking captain of the ship. They drive performance by inspiring the team, keeping shelves stocked, serving customers with excellence, and making sure the store runs smoothly — from sales and stock to safety and staff development.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive Sales & Service: Boost revenue through great customer service, merchandising, and store presentation.
- Minimise Stock Loss: Cultivate a security-conscious store culture, enforce stock and cash handling policies.
- Cost Control: Embrace and drive PEP’s low-cost culture by managing operational expenses efficiently.
- Admin Excellence: Ensure all in-store admin, reports, and compliance checks meet corporate standards.
- Team Leadership: Train, coach and lead a high-performance team (aka PEP Dynamos) with accountability and care.
- Store Standards: Uphold safety, housekeeping, and health protocols daily.
Job Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric) is essential
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written)
- A tertiary qualification (Diploma/Degree in Retail, Business, or Management) is advantageous
- 1–2 years’ experience in a retail environment with leadership duties
- Computer literacy (MS Office or Google GSuite experience preferred)
