Education is a powerful tool for personal and professional growth, and the Department of Military Veterans (DMV) in South Africa is committed to supporting military veterans and their dependents in their academic pursuits.
The DMV has officially opened applications for continuing education support for the 2025 academic year, offering financial assistance to eligible students in both basic and tertiary education.
Submission Process for 2025
To ensure continued support, military veterans and students must submit the following documents:
- Confirmation letter from the school confirming the learner’s or student’s registration.
- Final report or academic transcripts for 2024 to verify progress in the previous academic year.
- School invoice for 2025, which should be stamped and signed, including school banking details, a tax clearance certificate, or a tax exemption letter where applicable.
- Filled entity form and bank confirmation letter for learners who have changed schools or updated their banking details.
Students enrolled in public institutions of higher learning may also submit their academic transcripts to be included in the approved list. This allows them to register without paying registration fees. However, upon successful registration, they must provide a confirmation letter.
How to Submit Applications
Applicants can submit their required documents through email or by visiting provincial offices. The submission email addresses are as follows:
- Tertiary students: TEContinuing2025@dmv.gov.za
- Basic education students: BEContinuing2025@dmv.gov.za
Alternatively, applicants can visit provincial offices for further assistance.
Empowering the Future Through Education
By providing financial support for continuing education, the DMV is ensuring that military veterans and their families have access to quality education without financial burdens. This initiative aligns with South Africa’s National Development Plan (NDP) 2030, which emphasizes the importance of education in building a skilled and empowered nation.
