The Consumer Goods & Services Ombud (CGSO) has officially opened applications for its 12-Month Internship Programme for 2026, offering young South African graduates an exceptional opportunity to gain practical workplace experience in a respected statutory dispute-resolution institution.
This internship programme is aimed at ambitious, passionate, and career-driven individuals who are eager to enter the professional world and develop skills in Human Resources, Communications & Marketing, and Legal Complaints Handling (LLB). Overview of the Internship Programme
The CGSO 12-Month Internship Programme is structured to provide hands-on experience across key operational areas. Interns will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining insight into daily operations while contributing meaningfully to the organisation’s mandate.
Successful candidates will be placed in one of the following internship streams:
- Human Resources (1 position – Ref: HR2026)
- Communications & Marketing (1 position – Ref: CM2026)
- Complaints Handler – Legal (LLB) (4 positions – Ref: CH2026)
Each internship stream is designed to equip participants with practical skills, professional discipline, and workplace confidence that enhances long-term employability.
Internship Streams and Responsibilities
Human Resources Internship
The Human Resources intern will gain exposure to recruitment processes, employee administration, learning and development coordination, and general HR support functions. This role is ideal for graduates interested in people management, organisational development, and workplace compliance.
Communications & Marketing Internship
The Communications & Marketing intern will support internal and external communication initiatives, content development, stakeholder engagement, and brand visibility. This stream suits candidates with an interest in media, public relations, marketing strategy, and digital communication.
Complaints Handler Internship (LLB)
The Complaints Handler interns will assist with reviewing, assessing, and processing consumer complaints in line with relevant legislation and CGSO processes. This role provides invaluable exposure for law graduates seeking experience in dispute resolution, consumer law, and regulatory compliance.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for the CGSO Internship Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a National Diploma or Degree in a relevant field
